Finding the best holiday deals

I like to go on holiday, a lot. I like to go frequently and I like to visit lots of different places. However, in order to do this, I have to do a lot of research and planning before booking any trip. After all, I’m still a 20-something young woman, so I do have to work to a slight budget if I want to be able to see all of the incredible places that the world has to offer. I’m regularly asked by friends and family members how I always end up finding good deals, so I wanted to share a few tips for you all to help you find the perfect, affordable break that you’re pining for.

Don’t book your hotel too quickly
Let me start by saying that is my best friend. I can spend hours just typing in different locations and scouring the site for the best hotel deals – I’m actually slightly obsessed with doing this. I’m usually quite flexible when looking for my hotel deals so this makes it easier to grab a bargain so if you can be flexible, I would recommend looking at a whole host of dates to see what works out cheapest, especially if you have a certain location in mind. Also, if you sign up to, they send you email alerts when prices come down on the dates you were searching for, so it’s worth taking a browse and then coming back at a later date. It’s worth noting that you can also get referral deals to make the experience cheaper so once you’ve stayed, you can get a certain amount of money back. You can use my referral link here to get £15 back on your stay.

Track down the cheapest destinations
In the last few months, my boyfriend and I have discovered and become obsessed with Skyscanner. But we usually type in any month when we’re thinking of travelling and then state that we’d be happy to travel anywhere. Then the site brings up the cheapest flight destinations for the dates you’re searching for. As it’s so broad, it has incredibly varied price options so you can decide the best travel time and location for you. Not only can this grab you an absolute bargain, but it can open you up to new destinations that you may not have considered previously.

Nab some Secret Smart Deals
The first holiday that I went on with my boyfriend was bought as a Smart Deal on Secret Escapes and we managed to travel to Brussels for £185 each with Eurostar travel, three night’s stay at a stunning hotel and a three-course meal all included in the price. As I was a student at the time, this was the bargain of the year for me and I still can’t believe we found it. They even send you emails on a daily basis with deals you may be interested in so this can really spark your inner travel bug. If you haven’t got an account, I would highly recommend signing up here.

Book well in advance
Although booking a trip on a last minute whim can be enjoyable and you can find some great deals, booking far in advance can mean you scoop an even better price. Last year, I took a trip to Amsterdam and managed to bag three nights and flights for £180 on Last Minute. Completely against the brand’s name but booking in advance turned out to be much cheaper. So wherever possible, try to get your ducks in a row and your plans in order.

You don’t always have to sacrifice on quality to grab a great holiday deal. In fact, I very rarely do because I want my trips to be enjoyable from start to finish, wherever possible. On all of these websites, it’s always beneficial to be flexible and to be patient. You will find a great offer and try to introduce a little self-restraint by not booking the first package you see – it’s likely that there will be others out there so make sure you’re really getting a deal before handing your money over. What are your tips for getting the best holiday bargains?
