This week, I was lucky enough to be invited to a VIP store launch event in Cardiff and was greeted with a glass of bubbles as soon as I walked through the door – not too shabby for a Thursday evening. The event was for a new bridal store named Pritchard and Moore. But this was no ordinary bridal shop. Let me explain.
Named after two of its major contributors, Pritchard & Moore has been set up by Cancer Research Wales and is the first store of its kind in Wales as a standalone brand set up for charity fundraising. The idea for the store stemmed from the success of the bridal selection offered in the Cancer Research Wales store. After seeing its’ overwhelming popularity, it was clear to the charity that there was room for a bigger venture.
All dresses are donated to the store by brides who have already loved the dresses and want to pass them on or by designer stores where the dresses are at the end of line. All of the dresses are in wonderful condition and what’s particularly fantastic about the store is that none of the dresses are above £500, making sure that they cater for all bridal budgets. I even spotted a beautiful dress that was only £75! All profits from purchases go directly to Cancer Research Wales.
The store stocks everything that you would expect from any high end bridal store including wedding dresses (obviously), accessories, veils and even items for the mother of the bride. I had some fun trying on mother of the bride hats, although my head was slightly too big for the one I chose.
The store is supported by volunteers, and staff includes a lady who has previously worked in a bridal store and is clearly highly experienced in her industry. Obviously, being 22 and having just graduated uni, I’m most certainly not in the market for a wedding dress. But after observing the staff’s interaction with potential customers, I was seriously impressed. All of the staff seemed incredibly friendly, approachable and I believe they will be such an asset to the store. Customer service is always a big focus of mine when I visit a new store or restaurant and I was pleased to see happy brides-to-be already booking appointments for dress fittings.
For the launch, Pritchard & Moore are currently running a Facebook competition where one lucky winner will get the chance to have afternoon tea for two in the Marriott Hotel, Cardiff. All you have to do is like their Facebook page and then comment who you would like to bring to afternoon tea. Obviously, I’ve already entered this. The competition is open until midday on Monday 1st of August so you still have some time to enter.
This store will now be open indefinitely – I think it’s an incredible addition to the bridal stores in Cardiff and will make many new brides very happy. The store will officially open at 10am on July 29 2016.
